1 cup unsalted butter
2/3 cups granulated sugar
2 cups flour mixed with 2 t. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
48 pecan halves
Brown butter over medium-high heat until it turns golden brown.
Remove from heat, pour into a glass measuring cup and let stand 5 minutes to give the browned solids time to settle. Carefully pour the clear part only into a large mixing bowl.
Discard solids and chill the bowl until the butter is firm. Add sugar and vanilla and beat until fluffy.
Gradually stir in four mixture until well blended.
Divide dough into 4ths and shape each quarter into a 12 inch long roll.
Cut each roll into 12, 1-inch pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
Place balls 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet and press a pecan half in the center of each, flattening it a bit.
Bake at 300°F for 20 minutes or until cookies are light brown.
